Pay It Forward!
Our very own Mrs. Jenn Johnson, Life Skills Classroom one-on-one Aid, was honored by News Channel 8 today with the Pay It Forward award. She was nominated for her involvement in Rett Syndrome Research, which affects our student Paige Hamer in 8th grade. Mrs. Johnson and a team of women will be going to Florida later this month to run in the Disney Princess Half-Marathon to fund research in the cure of Rett Syndrome. Whether you purchased a flower in the cafeteria, came to the Fun Run in the fall, attended the Polar Express movie at Christmas, came to the Trivia Night in January, bought from the wrestling concessions, or just donated time or money, you have been part of the solution & THANK YOU. Be on the look-out for the WQAD Channel 8 newscast or on Facebook for the whole story. And if you see Mrs. Johnson around be sure to congratulate her on this honor. We are proud she is a part of our amazing GMS team.

Chess Club gets started and challenges new learners
The first meeting of the Chess Club was a success! The students met in room 704 with Mrs. Schmidt and Mrs. Rickman. James, a 7th grade student, did a great job teaching other students how to play chess, while those who already knew how to play got their games started. There were 20 students who attended. Two groups used actual chess sets to play, while the rest of the students used a computer.
