Preschool students visited from Northside and Southwest Elementary Schools today to learn social development, motor skills, and community relations. Middle Schoolers in Mrs Strohms FACS planned all week by preparing snacks, activities, and developing motor skills engagement. In ELA classes our guests also played some table top games and read short stories written by GMS students.
Students sat with their same birthday month colleagues at lunch today to meet new friends and change up lunch!
We look forward to a unique bi-annual opportunity to promote engaged reading in our young students. The GMS book fair will run October 26-29 in the Large Group Room.
Middle School boys and girls ran at Maxwell Park in Normal for the IESA state meet today. The Girls team placed 5th, and the Boys team placed 16th. Great season, great finish, you make us proud!
Mrs. Gale reports “Buiders Club just finished its October community service project. The club donated 100 farmer thank-you bags to Hillsdale (Geneseo) Elevator. Each farm bag contains a thank-you note, water, beef jerky, granola, chips and an apple in hopes of keeping our local farmers going on these long harvest days. The left over food was then donated to Ms. Storm to be used in backpack blessings.”
“Our next service project is currently underway. We are raising money for Unicef through trick-or-treat door-to-door donations. A “Count” halloween party will be scheduled for later on this month.”
Whites win the annual smackdown at the GHS stadium on Wednesday night with a score of 33-25. It was followed by great food and celebration. Congratulations on a fantastic season.
GMS staff did a fantastic job putting on our annual Tailgate in preparation for the Greens vs. Whites football game tonight. Food Fun and Football!
Congratulations Boys and Girls Cross Country runners on being our 2015 Conference Champs. Onward to State next weekend!
