I thought this book was pretty good. I definitely thought it was the white guy because in real life a lot of MMIW cases don’t get justice because tribal courts can’t prosecute US citizens. I definitely liked Loren’s Grandmother though she was one of my favorite charachters. I would recommend this book to others.
BRODY, MY SON! HOW COULD HE DO THIS! I TRUSTED YOU! I had the misfortune of mentally taking Brody under my wing. I set down this book and started pacing around my room when it was revealed that he was the murderer. I appreciated the native diversity (rich from a white person) in this novel; people don’t tend to see that in many of today’s novels. The romance subplot was decent, but it was such a thrilling novel!
This book was amazing! I love how it had the message of MMIW, which I think is a great way to spread awareness and advocate for change. The plot of the book was also great. I think the author did a great job at capturing the grief, while also including the mystery aspect, and even a little romance with Eli and Mara. I was honestly surprised about Brody, but out of all of the characters he was probably the one I was most suspicious of. Overall, this book was a great mix of everything and was entertaining, but with a powerful message.
Overall, I thought this book was pretty good. I was surprised by the ending. I was also surprised that Jason betrayed Brody. I wonder why Mara’s dad got himself a lawyer if he knew he was innocent and wasn’t under suspicion when he got the lawyer.
