This book was ok. It definitley wasn’t my favorite on the list but it could have been worse. I liked the pacing of the book, I just wasn’t a fan of the plot. I wouldn’t reccomend this book but it definitley ranks above other books.
Overall, this book wasn’t bad although it wasn’t my favorite. I had a hard time getting into this book at first. As I kept reading it got more suspenseful. I did not expect Alex dying and that plot twist at the end. I really liked the short chapters, and how powerful a women Rune was. The romance in my opinion was just okay, but I really liked how all of the characters developed as the book went on as well. The short chapters also made this book more enjoyable.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the way that the chapters switched perspectives and the fact they they weren’t insanely long. The ending was really shocking but what happened to Alex was absolutely heartbreaking. I cannot wait to read the next book!
I loved this book! I thought it was really interesting, and I enjoyed how there were perspectives from both Gideon and Rune. It added a lot of depth to their relationship and the events going on to see it from both sides. I did find it a tad bit predictable because I was able to figure out that Verity was actually Cressida. Other than that though, I enjoyed the storyline a lot.
I really enjoyed this book. I read it after Powerless because I was told that if you liked Powerless, you should read it. It had some of the same aspects as Powerless, but had its own unique twists as well. Classic “Enemies to Lovers but not quite lovers because it was a cliffhanger and there is a second book” trope, with slowburn too. Neat world-building and the map in the beginning is greatly appreciated. It wasn’t like the book didn’t have any plot at all, like some books that I’ve read. We knew the plot from the very beginning, and I couldn’t stop reading. My only problem with it is that there were so many different things the characters could have done for Alex in the end. Of course, he was my favorite character, so I knew something was going to happen. But it almost felt too staged.
I loved the book and ordered it along with the sequel the day I finished, the plot is very suspenseful as the story goes on. I love the detail in each chapter as it switches the point of view between Rune and Gideon. I love the determination portrayed in both of them but in different ways, and it also includes a slow burn enemy’s to lovers, along with a love triangle. I was completely in shock by the ending and can not wait to start the sequel!
I thought it was okay, I enjoyed reading about the hunt for rune like her working her way around Gideon that was fun to read about. The romance was a little cheesy, but still enjoyable to see how it progressed. The plot twist at the end was crazy like I usually can see plot twist from a mile away but this shocked me. Like I didn’t not expect the friend(I forgot her name) but then once you heard it it make so much sense.
I loved this book, and also read it in one day. It was full of twists and turns, and I loved that Rune was pretending to be small and weak when she was the one to be feared. I felt really bad for Alex pretty much the entire book because Rune was not expecting that he loved her, while she had no romantic feelings toward him. Verity gave me a jolt a few chapters before her betrayal, as I realized the holes in her story, and she ended up being the villain, perfection! Will find the sequel shortly!
I read this book in a single day. It was suspenseful and interesting to read. I loved Rune, she was a strong and capable main character. I am honestly not a big fan of love triangles, especially when it is two brothers… (Yes, Belly, I’m looking at you), but honestly, this one was not too unbearable. Alex didn’t deserve that, and the ending has me shook. I had to take a second after I finished. I will 100% be reading the sequel.
Overall, I thought this book was pretty good. The middle of the book was okay in my opinion. But the ending was really good. I do wish they hadn’t hinted at verity’s betrayal before it happened though because it ruined the surprise.
