I loved this book. I thought the concept was interesting, but also super insane. I understand creating a new system for criminals because the prison system is wildly overcrowded, but forcing them to be the victims of elaborate murders is a bit much. Can’t say I didn’t enjoy reading it, but I almost feel guilty for eating up every word because thinking about it more really made me think “wow, this is horrible”. It was difficult to wrap my head around such a cruel punishment. It was upsetting for me when the framing was revealed because it meant that innocent people were being killed so violently. It’s like one minute I could be downing a yummy energy drink, and the next I would be boiled alive in wax? No thank you! This book is definitely a yes for me, though! Love it! 10/10

I really enjoyed this book. The use of Alcatraz as a setting was fantastic since it’s one of my favorite historical sites. I appreciated that it serves as a modern take on public executions. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a history buff or simply enjoys a good thriller.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I liked how they connected Alcatraz 2.0 with Dee’s past. Additionally, I liked when the book showed the outside world’s perspective of the events. However, I would say it is more a mystery book than horror in terms of the main plot.
