Below you can find a handout that will help you to interpret chemical equations and provide you with steps and special notes to help you balance equations.

Balancing Chemical Equations

Below are some links that will provide you with some practice for balancing chemical equations.

Go to the website below.

Click on the play button in the center of the thumbnail picture.

Click on the “Introduction” thumbnail.

You can use one of the tools it the upper right hand corner to help you know when the atoms are balanced.

Click the arrow above the box to add molecules, click the arrow below the box to remove molecules.

Balance the equation with the least number of atoms.

A smiling face will appear when the equation is balanced.

You can click on the “GAME” thumbnail at the bottom of the screen to complete each level of the activity.

Click on level 1 and complete the activity.

Complete level 2 and level 3.
