  • High School History Options for 9th Grade

  • Option A: You do not take history as a freshman.  It is an elective and will not put your student behind for graduation.

  • Option B: You take Ancient and Western Civilizations.  They are both semester classes and electives.  No recommendation necessary.

  • Option C: You take Enriched Ancient and Western Civilizations.

    • They are both semester classes and electives. Grades are NOT weighted.

    • You must be recommended through the High School Readiness Assessment along with a teacher recommendation.

    • To be considered students will be asked to show interest via a Google Form that will be provided via Google Classroom.  I will have this available until it is time to finalize my recommendations in January.

    • There is a high level of expectation and work load.  I am told that in the past, some students who are also recommended for other advanced classes choose not to take history as a freshman since it is an elective

    • If you are NOT recommended for the enriched Ancient and Western Civilization classes, you can request a waiver by calling the high school and getting information on the process.
