Hello,
Congratulations to 5th grade on a fine recorder performance April 30th and to 4th and 5th grade on a great performance May 7th!  In speaking to many 5th graders after their band instrument test drives, it is clear that they are very excited to continue their musical adventures next year in band.
The final performances of the year will be Wednesday, May 15th in the Northside Gym at the following times:
Students interested in extra music or recorder experience have been coming in before school or during their lunch recess.  If your child has chosen to participate, please look at the end of this post for the remaining rehearsal schedule.
Children’s Choir signup deadline is Monday, May 13thРI highly recommend considering this opportunity for students entering grades 4, 5, and 6,  to have a great time making music and to grow as singers and musicians.  It is only a few mornings a week for 2 weeks.  Please turn in the attached form and a check to Mrs. Gierhart or myself before the end of Monday.   See the attached flier for more information.

Recorder Concert Parent Note       6th grade band information
Children’s Choir this Summer
Pam Edwards and Alesha Gierhart will be hosting the Geneseo Children’s Choir this year for students entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grade.¬† It will held be weekday mornings from 10-noon on July 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10.¬† If you will be in town during these days I highly recommend considering this opportunity to have a great time making music and to grow as singers and musicians.¬† The price is very good at only $40, and you will get the chance to work with 2 tremendous choral educators, and perform with other fine musicians from the community at the final concert.¬† Please see the attached flyer and form for more information.¬† The form can be returned to Mrs. Gierhart at Millikin, or you may have your child bring it to me at Northside and I will turn it in.

The Music in Our Schools concert will be Thursday, February 28 at 7 p.m in the high school Gymnasium.¬† Fourth and Fifth grades students from Northside, Southwest, Millikin, and 6th graders from the Middle School will be performing.¬† Please arrive by 6:45, or 6:30 if your child is playing an instrument on “You Can Help.”
Parent Volunteers needed!¬† Please contact me at meckwall@dist228.org if you are available and willing to help setup and/or takedown.¬† We’ll start setting up at 5:30 p.m, and afterwards we should be done by about 9 p.m.¬† Thank¬† you for your consideration.
Some students have been coming in before school at 8 a.m. to sing a background vocal part or play one of several instruments for one of our pieces.  We will be rehearsing nearly every morning at 8 a.m. and occasionally during lunch recess between now and the concert on February 28th.  I have attached the rehearsal schedule.  Please look back regularly for updates to this schedule.

The Northside Holiday program has been rescheduled for January 17th at the same times. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the concert starts.
