I didn’t know anything about AIDS before reading the book. I learned that you can’t get from touching something somebody with AIDS has touched and that you can’t get through physical touch.
I think it was a pretty sad book and I wish there was a second book
because they think that AIDS can be transfered by casual touch

Iris didn’t want to tell any of her teachers and friends her dad was dying of AIDS because she thought her friends and teachers may be worried she was sick with AIDS too, like her dad, causing them to stay away from her.

Iris didn’t want to tell anyone at school because they would think that since her dad has AIDS she has it too and that she’s probably contagious and could give it to them.
She didn’t want to tell anyone because she didn’t want to get treated differently.
