Hello! My name is Mrs. Williamsen, and I will be your teacher this year. This is my first year at Northside, but this is my 7th year teaching full-time and my 3rd year in the district. I previously taught at GMS and at ExCEL in Atkinson. I graduated from Geneseo High School, and I actually spent time volunteering at Northside School my senior year, which is where my love for education first started. I first earned my college degree in Business Marketing from Western Illinois University. I went back to college several years ago to obtain my degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I have my endorsements in math and language arts for grades 5-8. I have over 15 years experience working in education. Prior to teaching full-time, I was a substitute teacher, a paraprofessional, a stay at home mom, and I founded a local playgroup, Lil’ Gumdrops.
I live with my husband, Matt, and our two children, Brayden (17) and Ashlyn (14). Brayden is a senior at GHS, and Ashlyn is a freshman this year. We have a bichon poo named Maisie. She’s two years old, and we consider her the baby of our family.
When I’m not working, you will find me attending my kids’ activities, walking, reading, spending time with family/friends, etc. I enjoy traveling, and most recently we started camping this summer.
This year we will do lots of fun things. Some of the things to look forward to this year in 5th grade are:
*Reading fun books and novels individually, in small groups, and as a class
*Interesting and exciting read-aloud books
*Writing about topics you enjoy and care about
*Math games and activities
