Although Christmas shopping season is close to an end, anyone wondering who makes the best quality PC’s should remember Apple.¬¨‚Ć That’s right even if you are interested in running only Windows 7 – your best bet it to get a 15 in MacBook Pro and run Bootcamp – Apple’s hardware quality remains unmatched in terms of quality.
According to the December issue of PC magazine – Apple scores the highest in overall quality in terms of reliability and service.¬¨‚Ć With my personal experiences repairing computers I tend to agree although you are paying a premium price for hardware with Apple – you are indeed getting the most reliable system.
Just a note:  I have been reading PC magazine for years and they tend to have an Anti-Apple bias.  That makes this chart stand out even more considering this is published in hostile ground.
Best way to shop for Apple.
1. If you are an educator go here.  http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/education_routing
2.  If not purchase online from here http://store.apple.com/us
Do not purchase from BestBuy or any retail outlet, the best deals come from the online store itself.
Just buy the base model – do not add more memory – do no add hard drive – do not add for faster CPU
Apple’s base model’s are more then enough for the most anyone and already tend to be on the high end price wise – a couple hundreds of CPU mhz will not be noticeable – and is not worth 150-300$ (more like 15-20$)
My Apple Pick for Best Laptop Year 2010:
1.¬¨‚Ć 13 inch Macbook Pro – Best Laptop of the year !!
(Yes I like PC’s and still recommend this – Put in a SSD in this machine load Win 7 and/or 10.6 and watch out!)
2.¬¨‚Ć 15 inch Macbook Pro – For those who need a little bigger screen and have a little extra money.
If you truly want more memory (again base model has more then enough) purchase from www.crucial.com (reliable and lots cheaper then Apple)
Not an apple fan and just want a PC? – I have had luck and been impressed with a variety of products from ASUS – a good runner-up in terms of reliablity – they also scored second in PC Magazine.
