Description of the course: This course covers: operating with real numbers, real number properties, solving equations in one variable, translating word problems into equations including fractions, decimal, percent, ratio, and motion problems, graphing inequalities, disjunction, conjunctions, and linear equations, simplifying and operating with polynomials, rational expressions, and radicals, factoring polynomials, solving systems of linear equations and quadratic equations.<\/p>\n
Course content and objectives:
\n\u2022 Linear equations \u2013 write, solve, and apply linear equations.
\n\u2022 Rational equations \u2013 solve rational equations with one solution.
\n\u2022 Graphing linear equations and inequalities \u2013 graph using ordered pairs, slope-intercept and x and y intercepts.
\n\u2022 Writing linear equations \u2013 use given information to write a linear equation in point slope, slope-intercept and standard forms.
\n\u2022 Linear inequalities \u2013 write, solve, and graph linear inequalities.
\n\u2022 Graphing other linear functions \u2013 graph systems, piecewise, step, and absolute value functions.
\n\u2022 Systems of linear equations and inequalities \u2013 solve, write, and apply systems of equations and inequalities with two variables by using elimination or substitution methods.
\n\u2022 Exponents and exponential functions \u2013 multiply, divide, and simplify expressions with exponents.
\n\u2022 Graph exponential functions- graph exponential functions and determine growth and decay.
\n\u2022 Polynomials and factoring \u2013 identify, compute, and factor polynomials and factor expressions.
\n\u2022 Quadratic functions- solve and graph quadratic functions.
\n\u2022 Rational Equations and functions \u2013 simplify, perform operations, and graph radical functions.<\/p>\n
Grading:
\nHomework- 30% and 70% Quizzes and Tests.<\/p>\n
Homework: Homework will be collected and graded in class on a daily basis. If you do not have your assignment the day of class, turn the assignment in the following class period and it will be dropped one letter grade.<\/p>\n
Absences: If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to get the missing assignments when you return or go to https:\/\/gcsdstaff.org\/schnowske\/If the absence was excused, you have two days to complete the assignment. If the absence was unexcused, you only have one day to complete the assignment. If you will absent because of a school function or doctor\u2019s appointment, you are required to get the assignment before you leave school.<\/p>\n

\n4. Dividers: Bell work, notes, homework, quizzes, and journal entries
\n5. A pencil and a pen<\/p>\n
Classroom Rules:
\n1. Come prepared to class.
\n2. Be in your seat by the time the bell rings or you will be issued a tardy.
\n3. Raise your hand to participate and only talk when given permission.
\n4. Be respectful and act appropriate towards the teacher and students.<\/p>\n
If you do not follow the rules, I will issue a verbal warning. If the behavior continues, you will be asked to stay after class a minute. If the behavior still continues, I will send you to the office.<\/p>\n
