{"id":432,"date":"2014-04-11T22:19:33","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T22:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gcsdstaff.org\/eckwall\/?p=432"},"modified":"2014-04-11T22:23:07","modified_gmt":"2014-04-11T22:23:07","slug":"fine-arts-day-and-remaining-performances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gcsdstaff.org\/eckwall\/?p=432","title":{"rendered":"Fine Arts Day and Remaining Performances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend and have a great spring break!\u00ac\u2020 Today we were sent off with an action-packed day of Fine Arts here at Northside.\u00ac\u2020 We were able to visualize a story and create our own birds with a presenter from the <i>Figge Art Museum<\/i>, dramatize the story of the <i>3 Little Pigs<\/i>, and get moving to the music with <i>Jazzercise<\/i>.\u00ac\u2020 Right in the middle of this, the Middle School <i>Jazz Ensemble<\/i> and <i>Swing Choir<\/i> came to show us what music is all about once you move on from Northside.\u00ac\u2020 \u00ac\u2020To end the day, we were rolling on the floor laughing with a ventriloquist and puppeteer.<\/p>\n<p>As we enter the end of the year, we have numerous musical opportunities and performances.\u00ac\u2020 In fact, we have 1 event each week for 5 weeks in a row!\u00ac\u2020 First, Mr. Hernandez has arranged to demonstrate all the band instruments to 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade on <b>Wednesday, April 22<sup>nd<\/sup><\/b> from 2-3 p.m.\u00ac\u2020 Second, 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade students will perform at the Recorder Concert on <b>Tuesday, April 29<sup>th<\/sup><\/b>.\u00ac\u2020 They will rehearse at 1:00 at Millikin, and will perform at 7 p.m. in the High School Gymnasium.\u00ac\u2020 Third, The following <b>Monday, May 6,<\/b> 4<sup>th<\/sup> and 5<sup>th<\/sup> grade will perform at the All-Unit Choir Concert at 7 p.m. also in the High School Gymnasium.\u00ac\u2020 Fourth, we will perform the following <b>Tuesday, May 11<\/b>, during the school day in the<b> Northside<\/b> Gymnasium.\u00ac\u2020 Finally, 4<sup>th<\/sup> and 5<sup>th<\/sup> graders will sing the National Anthem to start of the Superhero Spring Fun Run at Millikin on <b>Sunday, May 18<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/b>\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020 We hope that you will be able to come out to each of these events!<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00ac\u2020At the final concert<\/b> at Northside on May 11<sup>th<\/sup>, we will be presenting a program all about exercise and wellness, just in time for summer.\u00ac\u2020 Look for practice tracks and music here on my blog in the near future. \u00ac\u2020 After break, students will have the opportunity to come in for extra instrumental, speaking, and singing parts for the spring program.\u00ac\u2020 I will have more information regarding this after break.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>For students<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> entering<\/span> 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 5<sup>th<\/sup>, or 6<sup>th<\/sup> grade next school year,<\/i><\/b> I highly recommend participating in the\u00ac\u2020<a href=\"http:\/\/gcsdstaff.org\/eckwall\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Childrens-choir-Parent-Note-2014.pdf\">Children&#8217;s choir<\/a><b> this summer<\/b>.\u00ac\u2020 This will be a great opportunity to have a wonderful time making music and to grow as singers and musicians.\u00ac\u2020 Mrs. Gierhart and Miss Edwards will lead the choir again this year.\u00ac\u2020 The theme for the year is \u201a\u00c4\u00faTransportation!\u201a\u00c4\u00f9<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Remaining Northside Musical Events<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Grade 5-\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020 <b>April 23<\/b>-Band instrument Demonstrations<\/p>\n<p>-2:00-3:00 in \u00ac\u2020N.S.
