I hope\nthat you and your family enjoyed a restful spring break! In our final week before break we had two\noutstanding 4th<\/sup> Grade musical performances! Also, as part of our annual Fine Arts Day, we\nenjoyed demonstrations from a variety of skilled and accomplished artists as\nwell as an excellent performance by the Middle School Jazz Band and Swing\nChoir. Here is a link to where you may\nfind recordings of these performances: https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL3hHqYf6x0QgLY4-52BfMj3k3VNErVQyY<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n As we\nenter the final quarter of our school year, I wanted to outline your child\u2019s\nupcoming musical opportunities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3rd<\/sup>-5th<\/sup>\nGrades-<\/strong>Students\nmay come in most every morning before school from 7:45-8:15 to practice\nrecorder and also test for Recorder\nKarate<\/em> belts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4th<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup>\nGrades-<\/strong> On Monday,\nMay 6th<\/sup>, students in grades 4-12 will perform at the All-Unit Choir Concert<\/em> in the High\nSchool Concert Hall. 4th<\/sup> and\n5th<\/sup> Grades from all three elementary schools will perform two\ncombined pieces as well as music with all choirs combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5th<\/sup> Grade-<\/strong>The following Monday, May 13th<\/sup>,\nthe 5th<\/sup> graders will perform at the Recorder Concert, along with the\n6th<\/sup> Grade Band and the High School Honor Band. We will rehearse earlier during the school\nday. During the following few evenings, students will have the opportunity to\n\u201ctest drive\u201d and select an instrument to play next year in band. The previous Tuesday, May 7th<\/sup>, students\nwill have had these instruments demonstrated at Southwest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n All Grades-<\/strong>Spring Programs will take place on\nThursday, May 23rd<\/sup> in the Southwest Gymnasium. Grades K-2 will perform starting at 8:45\na.m., and Grades 3-5 at 10:00 a.m. This\nyear\u2019s theme is History and the Old West!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n 1st<\/sup>-7th<\/sup>\nGrades-<\/strong>Quad City\nOrchestra Youth Choir Auditions-The Quad City Symphony Youth Choir\nis for students in 4-8th<\/sup> grade and is a great opportunity for\nstudents who want to dive deeper into their classical music training. The Preparatory\nChoir is for students in 2nd<\/sup>-3rd<\/sup> grades and is an\nawesome introduction into the youth choir experience. Auditions will take place\nbetween May 14-30. Please let me know if\nyou are interested!<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3rd<\/sup>-6th<\/sup> Graders-<\/strong> Please consider joining the Geneseo Children\u2019s Choir this summer from July 3-10! This choir workshop will include a variety of fun musical activities in addition to preparing concert music.
