Hello,<\/div>\n

I hope that you\u2019ve been enjoying the milder weather.\u00a0 I wanted to outline a few upcoming opportunities for your child.\u00a0 Many of the resources mentioned below are also available here on my district blog.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a03rd<\/sup>-5th<\/sup> graders <\/strong>are currently working on several songs on recorder.\u00a0 3rd<\/sup> and 4th<\/sup> grades are using the Recorder Karate <\/em>system, where they earn one of nine belts upon mastery of each song.\u00a0 5th<\/sup> graders are learning songs which they will perform at their Recorder-Band Concert <\/em>on Monday, May 14th<\/sup> at the High School.\u00a0 Students may come in for extra practice or to test for belts during most morning recess and specified lunch and lunch recess times.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
On Thursday, March 1st<\/sup>, all 4th<\/sup> graders <\/strong>in Geneseo schools traveled to the Symphony Day<\/em> at the Adler Theater in Davenport.\u00a0 The theme this year was \u201cAmerican Voices.\u201d\u00a0 We had a wonderful trip, and even were able to see three Geneseo students perform on stage.\u00a0 Thank you again to the school district, GPAC, and you for your support in allowing us this invaluable opportunity! \u00a0\u00a0For upcoming Quad City Symphony Orchestra <\/em>events, please see www.qcso.org<\/a> .<\/div>\n

4th<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup> grade students<\/strong>\u00a0performed at the 44th<\/sup> Annual Music In Our Schools Concert <\/em>on Tuesday, March 13th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Please see the “4th+5th” tab above this post to view the program and recordings of the performance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Students entering 4th<\/sup>-7th<\/sup> grade<\/strong> are invited to participate in a choir workshop directed by Geneseo music teachers and future music educators. Students will rehearse for two hours on July 5th<\/sup>, 6th<\/sup>, 9th<\/sup>, 10th<\/sup>, and 11th<\/sup>. \u00a0Instruction will include vocal technique, theory, ear training, and preparation of concert music. The workshop will conclude with students performing with the adult community choir on Wednesday, July 11th<\/sup>.\u00a0 \u00a0Here is the\u00a0Childrens Choir Parent Note 2018<\/a>\u00a0.<\/div>\n

All students <\/strong>will participate in our Annual Northside Fine Arts Day will take place on Friday, March 23rd<\/sup>. Many\u00a0\u00a04th<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup> grade<\/strong> students\u00a0 have been rehearsing and will have the opportunity to perform in an instrument ensemble that will play during our final act of the day.\u00a0 This assembly is scheduled to begin about 12:40.<\/div>\n
