I hope that you and your family are having a good start to 2017! \u00ac\u2020I wanted to outline a few upcoming opportunities for your child.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, February 21st<\/sup>, all 4th<\/sup> graders <\/strong>in Geneseo traveled to the Adler Theater for the 35th<\/sup> annual \u201a\u00c4\u00faSymphony Day.\u201a\u00c4\u00f9\u00ac\u2020 We had a great time at the concert! The theme was \u201a\u00c4\u00faPlanetary Exploration.\u201a\u00c4\u00f9\u00ac\u2020 We have been doing activities<\/a>\u00ac\u2020during music class to help familiarize students with some of the music that they played.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, March 7th, 4th<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup> grade students<\/strong>\u00ac\u2020performed at the 41st<\/sup> Annual Music In Our Schools Concert. \u00ac\u2020<\/em>Thank you to all who attended for a great performance!\u00ac\u2020\u00ac\u2020Thank you also to those who assisted with taking down after the concert.<\/p>\n Current 1st<\/sup>-8th<\/sup> grade students-<\/strong>The Quad City Symphony Youth Choir<\/em> is looking for new young voices for next year!\u00ac\u2020 You will have the opportunity to audition on one of several days in May.\u00ac\u2020 I would be happy to assist your child in preparing for this audition. Please see this link for more information.\u00ac\u2020 It has last year\u201a\u00c4\u00f4s dates, but the practice materials are still current: https:\/\/qcso.org\/meet-the-qcsyes\/auditions<\/a>. The choir\u201a\u00c4\u00f4s final concert on the season will take place Thursday, April 2nd<\/sup> at Two Rivers United Methodist Church in Rock Island.<\/p>\n Students entering 4th<\/sup>-7th<\/sup> grade<\/strong> are invited to participate in a choir workshop directed by Geneseo music teachers and future music educators. Students will rehearse for two hours on July 6th<\/sup>, 7th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. Instruction will include vocal technique, theory, ear training, and preparation of concert music. The workshop will conclude with students performing with the adult community choir on Wednesday, July 12th. \u00ac\u2020 here is the Children’s Choir Registration form.<\/a>\u00ac\u2020 \u00ac\u2020It will also be sent home with students next week.<\/p>\n On Friday, April 7th<\/sup> we will be having our annual Northside Fine Arts Day<\/em>.\u00ac\u2020 We will be having a main act, the Middle School Swing Choir and Jazz Band, and several other smaller acts.\u00ac\u2020 As part of the day, the PTA has graciously agreed to provide a luncheon for teachers and presenters.
