SCULPTURE I
Course Emphasis
During this course you will be working to develop the following aspects:
- Material/ technique – Experimenting/ developing skills and media knowledge.
- Emotional/ conceptual – Learning to be expressive, understanding conceptual drawing, using imagination and creative problem solving.   Finding your own personal style.
Course Objectives
- Create original works of art using a variety of 2D and 3D materials.
- Design and create work based on a given theme
- Work in sketchbook – sketching, designing and reflecting.
- Document your stages of creating – reflecting on process and product.
- Participate in class critiques
- Create a portfolio of work
Studio Rules
- Respect self, others and materials at all times.
- Be prepared everyday.
- Clean up & Keep Clean!

Studio Requirements
- Sketchbook: All artists will need a sketchbook dedicated to this class. You will use it everyday for boot camp/ artist intro notes & handouts, idea brainstorming, sketching, designing, stages of creating/ daily entries, reflecting on process & product, and any questions that you have about artists, ideas, materials, etc.   Your sketchbook is due every 2nd and 4th Friday and will be a major part of your final grade.
- Themes: All artists will be creating works of art based on a series of given themes. The design, subject matter, materials, size, composition, etc. will be chosen by the artist.
- Absences: Missed work as a result of an absence is the responsibility of the artist. Please see a classmate for missed notes during demonstrations and check the class drawer for missed handouts/ paperwork.
