What is Swing Choir?
Swing choir is an auditioned 8th grade advanced group that meets every Monday and Friday morning from 7:00-7:45am. This choir performs at all 7th and 8th Grade concerts in addition to other performance opportunities. Attendance is required at rehearsals. If you are interested in Swing Choir, you must make rehearsal a priority!
What will the audition be like?
At the audition the students will first do a range check with me. Then students will do a short rhythm and melody sight reading (You will be able to write in counts and solfege if needed.) Finally, students will sing measures 27-35 of “Feeling Good” on their voice part (soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass) . I expect students to be well prepared for this audition. Students must sing the correct notes and rhythms of the song with no piano accompaniment. If students are not prepared for the audition, they most likely will not make the group.
When and Where will these auditions be held?
Swing Choir Auditions will be held the Weeks of May 11th-15th. Students will audition during school (WIN 2:40-3:10).
Where can I find the materials I need for the audition?
All the materials are posted on my website (The music and voice recordings.) Both the sight readings will be given to the student at the audition! (You will have time to write in solfege and rhythm.)
