Notre Dame Glee Club Announces 2009 Fall Tour Concert

Stowe, the University of Notre Dame Glee Club has released the itinerary for their 2009 Fall Tour.\u00ac\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u2020 The Glee Club is one of the of the most renowned all-male choruses in the United States. They will feature a program of a cappella works that surveys a broad range of music form Medieval works to contemporary compositions for male chorus.\u00ac\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u2020 The group will be stopping in Geneseo, Illinois as part of the tour.<\/p>\n The program delivered in each performance is always filled with variety that highlights the Glee Club\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u00a5s scholasticism, musicianship, and dynamic control as an ensemble.\u00ac\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u2020 \u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u222bWe want our audiences to receive an educational experience as well,\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u03c0 says director Daniel Stowe.<\/p>\n The tour\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u00a5s program will feature music from the Renaissance, Classical, and even Romantic eras.\u00ac\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u2020 Sacred contemporary pieces may also be sung like Franz Biebl\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u00a5s \u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u222bAve Maria\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u03c0 for double men\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u00a5s chorus \u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u00a8 a signature piece of the Glee Club.\u00ac\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u2020 The program continues with an exciting second half of folk songs, spirituals, and barbershop arrangements from the musical The Music Man. As always, the Glee Club will conclude its concert with the greatest of all University fight songs, \u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u222bThe Notre Dame Victory March.\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u03c0<\/p>\n The Glee Club continues in its ninety-fourth year having traveled during the Summer of 2009 on a tour of Guatemala, presenting concerts in Guatemala City, Antigua and many other Guatemalan cities.\u00ac\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u2020 Previous international tour destinations have included Europe (2007), Central America (2005), Asia (2001), and Israel (1997). On tour and on campus, the Glee Club has performed with the Jerusalem Symphony, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Washington Men\u201a\u00c4\u00f6\u221a\u00d1\u221a\u00a5s Camerata, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Ronan Tynan, Vince Gill, and Dave Brubeck, and with the Glee Clubs of Harvard University, the University of Michigan, and the U.S. Naval and Military Academies. The group presents more than 80 performances each year that range from formal concerts on tour and on campus to shorter programs for University functions and other events.\u00ac\u00a8\u201a\u00c4\u2020 The Glee Club 2009 Fall Tour will feature stops in Warsaw, IN; Milwaukee, WI; Ft.
